RUINS PROJECT

"Buildings don't fall unto ruin after they are build but rather rise into ruin before they are build"
Robert Smithson from: "AT THE EDGE OF THE PALE" by Patrick Barron & Manuela Mariani
When a building goes through destruction, gets cracked and damaged, one might imagine how the programmatic role is letting go, set free and releases the walls from its firm demand. Allowing the building to evolve in to a new phase of spatial Autonomy. Only then, when the building’s Architects thought is far gone one can feel the space in an independent, free and imaginary manner, perhaps like never before. Back to the starting point: All of our surrounding build environment is being planned and manifested subjectively. The urban environment is a cluster of ideas in the shape of physical objects that are well planned and edited together on the field. All are collected stories that are written by few writers and are being quoted side by side in the public and privet spaces. Us humans, the everyday users of these spaces, are constantly traveling throughout someone else’s words .. trying to find our on syntax .. with that in mind, one might wonder what is the degree of freedom that the surrounding environment enables us? or even allowing us? how dose it stimulates us? or maybe constructing us? That same space that shapes our behavior as individuals as well as a society. Are we being invited to autonomy? Are we being allowed to daydream? Are we being encouraged to Determine our own spatial narratives? The projects wonders about the “magic of the possible” of the ruined architectural object through my eyes both as the architectural creator as well as a spatial user my self.
Ruins project is an art collage collection created digitally with photographs I have captured more than a decade throughout my travels around the world. Some are also weaved with 3d models I have created. This is an album; a cluster of memories fictional as well as realistic, of spaces that are being re-visualized. this family of “creatures” tells the story of the city’s imaginary abandoned artifacts . The work on this visual series aims to highlight the architectural freedom of the abandoned and the beauty and aesthetics it reviles after an unplanned and random destruction process, discovering human life traces. These are free places / places of freedom. They are clear and blurry at the same time, presenting my memories that are recorded as a rhizome and do not have a linear timeline. They are endless as well as lacking a clear beginning. They are timeless, they are free...

"The accident reviles the substance... creation or collapse, the accident is an oeuvre , an invention in the sense of uncovering what was hidden just waiting to happen."
